About CISCE

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is a recognised national school education board established in 1958. Its curriculum is designed to provide a broad and balanced education, with emphasis on a wide range of academic disciplines, conceptual understanding and the overall development of learners.

CISCE conducts two major external examinations at the secondary and senior secondary levels:

• Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE): The Grade 10 examination, designed as a comprehensive course of general education. Students study a broad range of subjects and appear for examinations in accordance with the CISCE scheme of studies.
• Indian School Certificate (ISC): The Grade 12 examination, undertaken after a two-year course of study at the senior secondary level. Students pursue subjects aligned with their academic interests and future higher-education pathways.

The CISCE framework encourages students to develop strong subject knowledge, analytical abilities, effective communication, independent thinking and a broad understanding of the world around them.
